Rapsodo MLM2Pro Golf Simulator - Detailed User Guide and Review

So, what do I think about the Rapsodo MLM2Pro after 2 years of frequent use?

Here at Kaizen Golf, we've been a long time user of the the Rapsodo MLM2Pro Golf Simulator / Launch Monitor. In fact we tested the unit out for about a year before we partnered up with Rapsodo to offer it to our customers, you can check out our "first impressions" article way back from 2023 when we first got our hands on one.

Now that we have used the product for over 2 years, we thought we are now in a good position to write a detailed user guide of the product as well as a long term review.

If you are looking for a launch monitor for your golf simulator set up and have the Rapsodo MLM2Pro in your shortlist, we hope this article will help you to make an informed buying decision on whether this product is right for you.

This will be a fairly detailed and lengthy review, but if you just want a quick summary of the pros and cons of the product as well as my overall thoughts about the product, you can find that in the summary below.

Pros

  • Accuracy of both ball and club data really punches above its weight, especially with the inclusion of club path and angle of attack metrics.
  • Integration with 3rd party software such as E6 and GS Pro. 5 free courses are included as part of the E6 trial license.
  • Intuitive app with big focus on game improvement.
  • Constant pipeline of improvements and new features from Rapsodo.

Cons

  • Requires 4.5m minimum of depth .
  • Uses Rapsodo's own marked balls - you can't use your own ball.
  • Subscription required to unlock the most important features.
  • Putting is currently not supported.

For those who want to read on for more detail, let's start with an overview of the product.

Rapsodo MLM2 Pro Golf Launch Monitor Golf Simulator

Product Overview

Technology

Instead of being purely a radar or a camera based golf launch monitor, the Rapsodo MLM2 Pro combines the best of 2 worlds. It uses a radar to measure club head and ball speed and uses high speed cameras to "see" what his happening with the club head as well as the ball at and shortly after impact. In actual fact, it has 2 cameras, one for capturing impact (Impact Vision) and the other for filming your golf swing (Shot Vision).

Rapsodo MLM2 Pro golf launch monitor cameras

By using both radar and photometric (cameras) technology, the team at Rapsodo have equipped this portable launch monitor the hardware it needs to deliver metrics that you would typically only get with products that cost 3-4 time more (minimum). For example, the Rapsodo MLM2Pro now measures club path and attack angle and is rumoured to be working on a more metrics.

Quick note on measuring spin - the Rapsodo MLM2 Pro uses uniquely marked Callaway Chromesoft or Titleist ProV1 balls (called RPT balls) for measuring spin. It takes a super slow-motion video of the ball flight right after impact to determine how the ball is spinning. You will not be able to get accurate spin information if you don't use balls with these markings.

What data do you get?

When it was first launched, data points which were measured by both the radar and cameras included:

  • Spin Rate
  • Spin Axis
  • Ball Speed
  • Club Speed
  • Launch Angle
  • Launch Direction

With data points captured, the following ball flight characteristics are then calculated:

  • Carry Distance
  • Total Distance
  • Descent Angle
  • Apex
  • Shot Type (Shot Shape)
  • Side Carry
  • Smash Factor

Now comes the exciting part, as of May 2025, Rapsodo have also added 2 more club data measurements which really elevated the product from something that you play simulator golf with to a product that you can use for coaching or fitting purposes, those are:

  • Club Path
  • Angle of Attack

And the even better news is that annoying club stickers are not required for these metrics, though there are certain things you do have to do for the data points to be captured, more on this later - you can refer to the 'set up' section down below.

As we mentioned before, with the MLM2Pro's ability to "see" the club head and the ball at impact, there is the potential for other metrics to be provided, which will further elevate the product into 'elite' status, and rumour has it that something might be in the works...watch this space.

Indoor vs Outdoor use

The unit offers both indoor and outdoor modes which means you can use this for your indoor golf simulator as well as take it to the range or even the course - yes it works when you hit off real turf. There are a couple of things to consider:

  • Indoor - as it uses a radar and sits behind the ball, you need a minimum of ~14.5 feet (~4.5m) of space in total, 6.5 feet from launch monitor to ball and 8 feet of ball flight.
  • Outdoor - as you will need to use RPT balls to get spin numbers, practically you will not be able to get spin numbers if you use this unit for an outdoor range session using range balls. But of course, you will have real ball flight to look at at the range. In terms of distances, you have the option to specify that you are using range balls, and the Rapsodo will then 'normalise' your distances for you.

Does it work with Putting?

No unfortunately, at the time of writing this article (Nov 2025), putting does not work with the Rapsodo MLM2Pro.

Cost and Subscription Fees

The Rapsodo MLM2Pro retails at $1099.

However, like most launch monitors these days, to get the most out of the unit, you will need to have a subscription to the Rapsodo Golf Premium membership.

As of November 2025, the costs of the Rapsodo MLM2Pro Premium membership is as follows:

  • $199.99 USD paid annually, or
  • $329.99 USD paid every 2 years, or
  • $599.99 USD one-off life-time payment

You can still use the launch monitor with reduced functionality without a subscription, but you will not be able to get the all important spin numbers which is required for simulator golf. But if you are looking to just take it to the range and measure your distances, then you don't need a subscription.

Also just note that the membership is non-transferable.

As most people will purchase the Rapsodo for golf simulation use, we always advise our customers to factor in both the cost of hardware as well as the cost of subscription when making a buying decision.

There is a 45 day trial of the premium membership when you first register the unit, so you can get a feel for the features before deciding on the duration of membership you initially want to commit to.

The Rapsodo App

As with most golf launch monitors, the Rapsodo MLM2Pro requires an app for it to work.

The Rapsodo App has 3 core parts:

Profile

This part of the app deals with all the boring admin aspects of the app, including:

  • Managing the connection with he Rapsodo MLM2Pro
  • User accounts, and user preferences
  • Managing Software and firmware updates

Home

This is kind of the "home screen" of the app and gives the user an overview of past sessions and key statistics from those sessions including club distances etc.  This is a really useful view especially if you are looking to track and monitor your progress.

Play

This is the fun part and the part that you will use the most.

With the Play section of the App, there are a number of areas that you can "click into" depending on if you are looking to work on your game or if you want to enjoy a game of simulator golf.

If you are looking to practice and improve your game, the app offers the following features:

  • Practice mode - key stats are displayed on big tiles on the screen, and you can watch back a recording of your swing and impact after every swing. This mode is perfect if you are doing block practice on a specific part of your swing or if you are working on drills.
  • Combines - skills assessment across the bag. Really good to benchmark where your game is at and to track your improvements.
  • Range - this is the typical "driving range" view where you get a virtual driving range with simulated ball flight after each shot. The metrics are displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Rapsodo Driving Range
  • Target Range - this is another driving range view but with target greens set up at different distances to help you work on dialling in your distances as well as accuracy. You can even do randomised practice if you want to have a bit more of a challenge. It introduces an element of consequence and pressure which definitely adds more realism to the practice session. See below.
Rapsodo Target Range
  • Speed - this is Rapsodo's R Speed system, which measures club head speed without the need to hit a ball. It works with all major speed training systems like Rypstick, TheStack System and SuperSpeed. If you don't have one of those speed sticks, it also works with the driver too.

The Rapsodo App also offers on course simulation play and comes with a whopping 30,000+ real life golf courses to choose from!

There is also a Closest to the Pin challenge that you can play with up to 5 players which is fantastic fun when you have mates over.

I find that the course simulation does accurately reflect the layout of the golf courses, however in terms of realism and graphics quality, they are not at the same level as the top end third party software. This is to be expected given the number of courses available as well as the fact that the application has to run on mobile devices which do not have the same graphics processing capabilities as gaming PCs.

If you are using course play as part of your practice or want to have the occasional round with mates but don't want to spend on third party software, the out of the box simulation capability is a really good option and will still give you a decent simulator golf experience.

Handy Tip (still valid as at Nov 25) - for a more realistic golf simulation experience. Be sure to take advantage of the free demo E6 Connect license that comes with the Rapsodo MLM2Pro. You get 5 courses with your purchase of the unit and you can run it on an iPad or a PC for better graphics.

Third Party Software options

If you want top end graphics and play some of the most renowned golf courses in the world, Rapsodo also provides official integration with a number of third party simulation software, they include:

GS Pro - GS Pro has emerged as the leader of golf simulation software offering hundreds of world famous golf courses with unbelievable 4K resolution graphics. For a home set up, this is pretty much as good as it gets. GS Pro currently costs $450 USD per year.

Kaizen golf rapsodo MLM2Pro with GS Pro

Awesome Golf - compared to GS Pro, Awesome Golf has taken a different approach to simulator golf, and offers something to everyone.

If you are a serious golfer, then the driving range and coaching capabilities makes practice super productive.

Want to play simulator golf? How about 18 holes at the Emirates in Abu Dhabi or Wentworth in the UK? Whilst the graphics is still not as good as GS Pro, there's plenty of realism to keep things immersive.

Kaizen golf rapsodo MLM2Pro with Awesome Golf

Have young kids? How about playing some competitive games like shooting golf balls at boats or buildings? This is certainly the favourite for my kids.

Awesome Golf runs smoothly on late model mobile devices so you don't have to shell out for a gaming PC if you are after a more "light weight" set up.

Better still, you will get a 6 month free trial of Awesome Golf with your Rapsodo MLM2Pro and it will cost $250 AUD per year after that or $500 for a lifetime subscription.

It's a good option if you are after a budget-friendly good all-rounder.

E6 Connect

Similar to GS Pro, E6 Connect also offers simulation golf with very high levels of realism.

You will get a 5 course FREE trial of E6 Connect with your purchase of the Rapsodo MLM2Pro which works on both IOS as well as PCs. The PC version offers smoother and higher resolution graphics than the IOS version.

So if you are not too bothered about having a variety of golf courses to play at, you can use E6 Connect for a much more realistic Sim Golf experience with our Rapsodo MLM2Pro with no additional cost.

Setting up the Rapsodo MLM2Pro

When you first get the Rapsodo, the initial set up is quite easy, with the following steps:

  1. Charge the unit - make sure there's enough juice in the battery in case the unit needs to perform a firmware update
  2. Download the app and log in - you may need to register for an account if you don't already have one
  3. Connect to the Rapsodo - Follow the instructions from the app to establish a connection with the Rapsodo for the first time. As long as you have Bluetooth and wifi turned on, then it should just be a case of 'watch the magic happen'.
  4. Sometimes you will be prompted to update the firmware of the Rapsodo, which could take around 30min - 1hr.

And now you are ready for your first session with the Rapsodo MLM2Pro.

From here on, you just need to re-connect with the Rapsodo each time you want to hit balls.

Rapsodo also has a very intuitive alignment process at the start of each session to help you confirm where to place the unit as well as ensuring that the unit is level, which is very important for measuring angle of attack.

The video below from Rapsodo is a really detailed and helpful guide on how to do this.

Accuracy

Of course, even if things are easy to operate and there are lots of features, if the launch monitor is not accurate then it's still a bad launch monitor.

The good news is that the Rapsodo MLM2Pro is very accurate, period.

As long as you are using the dotted balls, have good network connection and follow the alignment steps, you will get accurate numbers from the Rapsodo.

There have been many tests done by many people proving that the product can keep up with launch monitors many times its price. And for what it's worth, we see the same numbers whether we are using the Rapsodo or the Skytrak+.

Below is another video of the guys over in Golficity recently testing out the accuracy of ball and club data.

So, what do we think about the Rapsodo MLM2Pro?

Now that we've covered all the aspects of the unit itself, lets talk about what I think about this product, after 2 years of using it.

What I really like

  • Continued improvements - I love the fact that Rapsodo continues to deliver value to their users. Examples include the release of the Titleist balls, GS Pro integration, as well as club data measurements. We hear that they are working on even bigger and better things, and this really aligns with our own "Kaizen" philosophy :)
  • Accuracy - after more than 2 year out on the market, the Rapsodo MLM2Pro has demonstrated over and over again how accurate it is, especially considering its price.
  • Third party integration - we love the fact that you can effectively achieve a high-end golf simulation set up with a Rapsodo MLM2Pro with its official integration with GSPro and E6 Connect.
  • Game Improvement focus - the Rapsodo App has pretty much all you would need and want for improving your game, especially with the added angle of attack and club path, it can make practice super productive.

However, there are some limitations to consider

  • Space - as it uses a radar, it will require a minimum of 4.5m to operate
  • You can't use your own balls - you will have to use the RPT Chromesoft or ProV1 balls.
  • Ongoing subscription - to get the most out of the Rapsodo MLM2Pro, you will have to get a subscription for the Premium Membership, which is essentially another $600 USD.
  • No target offset for range and course play - this is probably my number 1 issue. Due to space limitations, I can't aim to the centre of the impact screen, so not being able to move the target to be inline with where I'm aiming is a bit annoying. Though I do hear rumours that this is being worked on, fingers crossed.
  • No putting - if you really want to do putting then you will have to combine it with a webcam putting set up which is a bit of a hassle. Auto-putt all the way for me.
  • Short chips - I've observed that delicate chips sometimes don't get picked up when playing sim golf.

Who should consider the Rapsodo MLM2Pro?

Based on the capabilities of the Rapsodo MLM2Pro, we believe the product is suitable for a wide range of users, from the weekend enthusiast to the elite player. Whether you grind on the driving range and want to make your sessions more productive or you are looking to set up a golf sim in your man cave, if you have a $2k budget for a launch monitor (unit + subscription), you really can't go wrong with the Rapsodo MLM2Pro.

Having said that, there are some users who may want to consider a different product, they include:

  • Teaching pros and fitters - you may want a higher end product which gives you more data points as well as spin metrics outdoors.
  • People who are space constrained - i.e. you don't have the depth required for the Rapsodo to work, in this case, you will need to look into a product which sits next to the ball.
  • Tournament sim golf players - for people who want to play online tournaments where putting is required, if you don't want the hassle of webcam putting, then you may need to look into a product that supports putting natively. Having said that....Rapsodo may enable putting at some stage down the track, you never know.

Final Thoughts

After 2 years of solid use of the Rapsodo MLM2Pro launch monitor, with a number of competitors emerging in the meantime, we still think the Rapsodo MLM2Pro remains one of the best launch monitors on the market, especially considering its price.

If you are interested in the Rapsodo MLM2Pro, we offer the product as a standalone launch monitor or it can be packaged as one of our Complete Golf Simulation Packages. We would love for you to check them out!

If you have any further questions on this product or any feedback at all, please feel free to contact us, we'd love to hear from you!
