In Depth Review - the Kaizen Full Swing Golf Net

Kaizen Golf Full Swing Golf Net

Are you on the market for a Golf Net that

  • Is Super Strong and Durable
  • Is both High Enough and Wide Enough to let you confidently hit all the clubs in your bag
  • Comes with an Impact Screen as standard
  • Doesn't cost more than your annual golf club membership?

Sounds too good to be true?

We are excited to introduce the Kaizen Golf Full Swing Golf Net to the Australian market, and we really believe it ticks all those boxes!

In this article, we'll go through in detail all the main features of our flagship golf net product as well as pro tips on how to get the most out of this product.

Construction & Durability

Our Full Swing net has a simple and very solid design consisting of 3 key components.

  • Steel Frame - Made using 1 ½" Steel pipes, the frame is SOLID. Sections of steel pipes are then connected together using bolts - bullet proof.

  • Golf Netting - The Full Swing net is 'enclosed' using 7/8" mesh UV treated polyester golf netting with reinforced edges to mainly protect the top of the net as well as the sides. Lob shots? Skied shot? The odd hosel rocket? We've got you covered.
  • Archery Baffle - A heavy duty Archery Baffle hangs in the middle of the net. It is hands-down much stronger than any golf netting material out on the market and will last a long time. And yes, you can use your projector on it - more on this later.

We opted for this simple design to ensure the product is built to last. We didn't want to go for fancy click-in/push-button joints to again minimise the chance of something going wrong.

Size

Hitting balls in your backyard is fantastic, until you hit it into your neighbour's backyard.

The generous size of our Full Swing Golf Net means that you can use your lofted wedges, and do not have to duck for cover when you hit off the hosel.

Kaizen Golf Full Swing Golf Net dimensions

With the popularity of radar based launch monitors such as the Garmin Approach R10 or the Mevo+, where you have to hit the ball 8 feet away, if you are using a normal 2m tall net means that you are starting to roll the dice when it comes to your shorter irons and wedges.

At 2.7m (9 feet) high, with the roof 'inclining' in, unless your name is Phil Mickelson, you can hit those wedge shots with confidence with the Full Swing Net.

Pro Tip: if you are trying to work out how tall your net needs to be - feel free to check out our article here - Answered - how high do I need my Golf Net to be?

The Full Swing net is plenty wide too. A width of 3.4m at the base means errand shots will not escape the enclosure.

The net also has a depth of 1.8m (6 feet) from the front of the net to the baffle. This means that even if you need to be 8 feet away from the baffle, you are only a few feet away from the protection of the side netting.

Pro Tip: For added peace of mind, you can get even closer to the net by undoing the side net on the non-shank side so it doesn't get in the way of your follow through (see below).

With these dimensions, you've practically got a golf cage, especially considering most golf cages are only 3m wide.

Safety

Apart from the large proportions of the net, there are some additional elements which will make the Full Swing Golf Net super safe.

  • No Bottom Bar - unlike most golf nets, the Full Swing net does not structurally need a metal bar at the bottom. No more golf balls flashing past your head from worm burners.
  • Archery Baffle - instead of having the strongest golf netting, our Full Swing Net has gone to the next level - the Archery Baffle WILL ensure that no golf ball goes through the net.
  • Side and Top Bar protection - At 2m wide and 1.9m tall, the Archery Baffle makes sure that the ball does not have access to the back and side poles of the frame.

Ease of Use / Set Up

The Full Swing Golf Net is not as easy to set up or take down as a portable or pop-up net. Given it's size and weight (almost 30kgs), it's not designed to be put up and taken down each session.

Having said that, each section of the frame is clearly labelled. So it's a matter of bolting them together and hanging the net on it - you should be able to get it up and running within 30min.

Stability

Given it's weight of just under 30kgs and it having a bigger base, the Kaizen Full Swing Golf Net is very stable. It will definitely not shift about no matter how hard you hit a ball into it.

One thing to be mindful of is the wind. Whilst a bit of breeze is no problem at all, when it's really blowing then the archery baffle can start to 'catch' the wind.

Pro tip: If you live in a high wind area, then consider using some tent pegs or a couple of sandbags to pin the net down for some added stability.

Simulator Play

Finally we come to the party trick of the Full Swing Golf Net.

Have a launch monitor and want to play a bit of sim golf? You don't need to buy a separate impact screen.

The archery baffle screen will produce a pretty decent image with a good quality projector.

Whilst this is no purpose built golf simulator enclosure, you will still have a pretty fun and immersive experience and suitably impress your mates.

Pro tips:

  1. You can use tarp clips and bungee balls (not included) to tighten the top of the archery baffle to reduce the sag at the top and achieve a flatter look. This is also the standard technique with purpose built golf simulator enclosures. Of course it will not look as premium as purpose built golf simulator enclosures but we think it's plenty good.
  2. For outside use, consider detaching the baffle when you are not using the net to keep it clean. Detaching the baffle when the net is not in use will also help when it's blowing a gale outside.

Final Thoughts

We at Kaizen Golf are really excited about adding the Full Swing Golf Net as a flagship product to our Golf Nets range.

It's super strong, super durable and will catch all your shots, even the (really) bad ones, time after time. You can even play simulator golf with it.

At under $500, we believe it represents fantastic value for the Australian market.
